The happy and carefree boy living a normal life is a far cry from the handsome boy looked in August 2018 when he was rescued from Kihunguro street.

Feet are twisted

At the time, Slithe was living with a condition called clubfoot, which basically means feet are twisted inwards, preventing normal mobility.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, musician Daddy Owen of the Malaika Trust said that it is alleged he is not Kenyan because he was speaking Kinyarwanda back then.

"He was a case of child trafficking for the purposes of being used as an instrument for soliciting money from people on the streets," said Ruiru Rehabilitation Centre.

Underwent corrective surgery

"We took him to AIC Cure International Hospital-Kijabe in 2019, where he underwent corrective surgery ....the first foot was done in June and the other one in December the same year,' they added.

The hospital cleared the whole bill which entailed surgery and medication.

"And now the boy lives a normal life and we celebrate him as we give all the glory to our good Lord Jesus Christ for this victory,"said Owen.

Daddy Owen is helping, through his Malaika Trust, to create awareness and restore hope for other children like him.

Can do normal activities

The journey has been long for the former street boy but at least now he can do normal activities like ride a bike where he lives; at the children's home in Ruiru.

Can now walk easily

Young Diana from Rusinga Island is a relieved girl as she can now walk easily after years of living with the club foot condition.

Diana underwent correctional surgery at Cure Hospital thanks to the efforts of Daddy Owen's Malaika Trust Organisation and its partners.

The organisation looks for children from humble backgrounds living with disabilities and sponsors them for correctional surgeries at no cost to the parents.
