Jacob Elordi, who is set to play the King of Rock and Roll in an upcoming film, has admitted that he got most of his knowledge from a Disney classic.

Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi said that much of what he knew about Elvis Presley came from watching the 2002 Disney favorite Lilo and Stitch.

Jacob didn’t know much about Elvis

The Hollywood star said, while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, that, before signing on to Sofia Coppola’s project about Elvis’ ex-wife and their relationship, he didn’t know much about the Jailhouse Rock singer.

“The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo and Stitch,” he explained, which got a laugh from the audience. He insisted that he learned “a lot.”

He also told the host that, although Elvis wasn’t “on my list of people to play,” the idea of doing so was “a little bit terrifying.”

In case you haven’t seen the film, Lilo, who is a huge fan of the star, shows her little blue alien friend Stitch Elvis’s music and teaches him how to be a “model citizen”, which she says the singer represents. One scene in the movie even sees Stitch wear an Elvis-inspired wig while he plays the ukulele.

The film’s soundtrack features some of the celebrity’s biggest hits, such as Suspicious Minds and (You’re the) Devil in Disguise.

Discussing his experience of auditioning to be one half of the celebrity couple, the 26-year-old said that he “didn’t think it would go anywhere.”

“Sofia had sent me these sides that said Elvis, and I kinda just was like, ‘There’s no chance that this is happening.  I watched this clip of him when he came back from the Army in Germany and read the lines for like 15 minutes and then shot two takes not thinking it would go anywhere.”

However, the Lost in Translation director liked what she saw and he secured the job.

He called making the film, which is released in cinemas on Friday, October 27, “pure bliss.”
