Love Actually star's engagement has fans 'sobbing' over iconic movie line

Love Actually star Thomas Brodie-Sangster has announced his engagement to Talulah Riley. His announcement post has left fans “sobbing” over an iconic line from the 2003 romantic comedy, in which he played Liam Neeson’s teenage son.

The English actor, 33, confirmed his personal news with a reference to Love Actually and an equally sweet picture with his fiancee. Thomas and Talulah first sparked relationship rumors in 2021 after working together on the FX limited series Pistol.

Congratulations are in order to Thomas and Talulah on the news of their engagement. The couple confirmed the news on their respective Twitter and Instagram pages on Thursday, July 27.

“Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged,” the actor, who also starred in Game of Thrones and The Maze Runner, wrote in his Instagram post. “Love is all around.”

Thomas referenced Bill Nighly’s song in Love Actually and a line from Hugh Grant’s character who said: “If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

Talulah announced the engagement on her Twitter profile and wrote: “Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie Sangster and I are engaged!”

Engagement has fans “sobbing” over film’s iconic line

The engagement post and the actor’s adorable reference to Love Actually have melted many hearts online and fans filled the post with congratulatory messages.

“13-year-old me is sobbing right now,” one emotional fan wrote. Another said: “Not the Love Actually line.”

A third fan commented: “I am so proud and happy for you. You are the best thing that happened to many of us, I love you so much. ”

“Congratulations brother,” someone else added. Another one joked: “Be happy for them! Stop being so dramatic.”

Thomas and Talulah: Brief relationship timeline

Thomas and Talulah worked together on the FX limited series Pistol, which began production in March 2021. In August of the same year, the pair sparked dating rumors after they were seen getting cozy.

The two actors didn’t hide their affection for one another during a public outing in February 2022 and strolled the streets of London together.

They seemingly confirmed that they are together at the 2022 British Academy Film Awards Gala Dinner in March. In May 2022, they attended the premiere of Pistol together and Talulah confirmed their romance in the same month to the media.
